Author Pitches 2026

Writers – It’s your chance to shine!
Pitch your manuscript to agents and publishers
This is your chance to pitch your completed unpublished manuscript directly to a literary agent or publisher and avoid the slush pile! Agents and publishers are always on the lookout for new and exciting voices, so here’s your chance to show them yours.
STEP 1
Submit your expression of interest to: admin@schwritersfestival.com.au
Please include the following information only:
- Subject line: SCHWF Pitch EOI
- Name and contact Information
- Title
- Genre
- Comparable titles
- Target market
- Current word count
- Elevator pitch (50 words max)
- Synopsis (250 words max)
- Author bio (100 words max)
- First 10 pages (12pt double spaced) or 10 page portfolio for graphic novels
Submissions are due by midnight Sunday 12 April 2026.
STEP 2
If your submission is chosen:
- You will be matched to an agent/publisher
- You will be notified your allocated time by Monday 20 April
- You must confirm your availability to pitch in Maleny at the time allocated to you. (Note: places are limited and times may not be changeable).
- The cost will be $30 (payment link sent via email)
HOW IT WORKS
- Times will be allocated during SCHWF (2 – 4 May)
- Sessions will be either in person or via online streaming
- Pitches sessions will be timed (5 minutes).
- We suggest you keep your pitch succinct (around 2-3 minutes) to allow time to answer agent/publisher questions.
- You must be able to submit a complete unpublished manuscript if requested (self-published is considered as published).
Pitches will take place in Maleny. Details will be forwarded to successful applicants.
